Journal #7

When thinking of what aspects of “Yellow Tulips” by Nathan Curtis Roberts I enjoyed reading, a very simple answer comes to mind. I have to say that I very deeply appreciate the imagery used. It seems minor but it contributes to the story just as much as anything else. The detailed descriptions are what provide the reader the ability to see the story and imagine. Some examples I liked are: “the same age in mind and heart, at least a decade older in body” “a generation ago, Sister Palmer’s face would have been stretched to translucency like strudel dough” “a shade of yellow that suggested hair sometimes turned gold after it had gone silver” “lips painted bubblegum pink” “the irises were making themselves ready”
