After submitting my profile piece, I took some time to reflect on the final product and the process behind creating it. Overall, I didn’t find many aspects that I would drastically change, but there is one major element I now realize was missing which is the inclusion of another voice, specifically of a student currently enrolled in my professor’s class. Looking back, I really regret not reaching out to a student who could have provided a firsthand account of what it’s like to learn from her. Including a student perspective would have added depth to the piece and offered readers a more well-rounded view of the professor’s influence. It also would have helped tie the profile more directly to the University of New England (UNE) and its community, which I now feel was somewhat lacking in the final draft. Without that voice, the piece felt a bit distant from the actual student experience, which is such a critical part of understanding a professor’s impact. In terms of technical aspects, I didn’t notice any major grammatical errors when rereading it, but I also know how easy it is to overlook mistakes in your own writing. Self-editing is tricky, and sometimes an outside perspective is exactly what’s needed to catch small details or gaps in clarity.
