Journalism is the act of collecting information about a particular topic then proceeding to then report it. Journalists will do research, interview, record information, edit, then release it into the world. Without journalists we wouldn’t have access to updates of the world. Journalists provide us with a variety of news ranging from restaurant reviews to personal stories, expert opinions, sports, artists, actors, musicians, and even an inside on what is happening with the government. This news will then get spread to television news channels, magazines, newspapers, radio stations, or a different form of news publication, which is where we get our updates with what is going on in the world. Journalism matters because without it we wouldn’t be kept in the circle of what is constantly occurring and changing around us. Not every aspect of journalism is as important of others. For example, our society can live without knowing what the hottest new makeup product is or what Emma Stone had for dinner. But we must be informed about global warming and what the President’s next move is. Keeping track of global warming isn’t just important, it’s a necessity to helping Earth spin round. Same goes for following what our President is doing to and for our country. Journalism plays a significant role in our society.
